Why do elder men dress funny ?

Obviously for this post I am using the forums recommended , tried and tested
formula of a wide and deeply dipped tar brush, When I say funny I don't mean
funny ha ha but funny peculiar.

Here are a few of my thought's on why this happens.

    1) they are still wearing the clothes they use to when they were younger but now
instead of looking cool and trendy they look like they are trying to hard or that there's a limit to the retro look.

    2) they have got their mate and have given up trying.

    3) their wife buy them their clothes and purposely make them look funny so that
other women wont go near them.

    4) their eye sights is worse than they thought.

    5) or like my husband, couldn't give a poop what other people think anyway.

Anyone else think of any other reasons and please feel free to use my tar brush.

How old are "Elder" men?I was actually going to go into a very nice clothes shop yesterday,I walked in,it was filled with guys the same age as my son so I walked back out I did go into North-face and there was a pinoy family, the little boy was standing in the entrance blocking my way and his mum moved him

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

    Yes, c'mon divulge all?
    When do men become elder?

You need to define 'elder' and you need to define 'funny/peculiar'

Does this have anything to do with your hubby ?

My trousers are certainly not a little tight under the armpits

All of my clothes are avant-garde !

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Hrmph, well I am in my 40's. For years my standard dress code has been untucked shirt and baggy usually combat pants.

    I don't wear jeans - the 80's are over.

I don't wear trainers - I associate them with chavs or teenagers from the 80's. I wear boots or vans (sort of like a plimsoll, canvas with rubber base). I often wear beanie hats or baseball caps (picked that habit up from hols in America, was told to always wear one so I didn't look a tourist target.....I know I know)

Now what have I noticed for the last few years..............teenagers dressed like me. Stop copying us older guys and get your own style losers! And whilst we're at it, anyone under 25 shouldn't be on facebook, it was made for college graduates and older, you should all be on Bebo

This thread must have struck a chord with me somehow.
So much so that I asked my wife about it.
    She agrees with you sars

I was horrified. I told her to check out my wardrobe, to which she replied that she had chosen most of it and that was the only part that was OK.
Those clothes that I'd bought when I was shopping alone are considered (by her) to be odd and are not allowed out of the cabinet (wardrobe).

    I've lost all confidence now.

I'd always gotten used to certain comments about my attire, such as 'are you going to wear that shirt?' when I've clearly just put it on.
Or the famous 'you need to change those trousers, they look funny. Why not wear those nice black ones that I bought you?'

Usually I succumb (just for a quiet life)

My well tried and tested clothes shopping technique hasn't really changed in years.
Firstly I decide what I absolutely need, then I go off and buy it, then wear it repeatedly until I need another, and so the cycle continues. Perfect.
Well actually it's not totally foolproof when my wife gets involved but that's life eh.

The other day I bought a new shirt from Next in their sale.
Now having got it home I seriously questioned whether I'm too old to wear it?

Asking my wife she said yes Take it back.

    Now what to do?

My most useful item of clothing now is my overcoat, because it covers up all the fashion disasters underneath.

    Cost me £20 (was £40)
The fitting rooms were all closed so just take it back for a full refund.

I though it would make me look 20 years younger.
Seems it makes me look funny
