Welcome to the forum George.
Your post made me smile...thinking of my stepson who I brought here also at the age of 9.....and who also can't now speak a word of his native tongue.
Same with my stepdaughter who was 7 years old when arriving here.
Shame really, but you can't force people to hang on to their heritage.
It's the relations back home who get REALLY confused though.
Good luck with bringing your fiancee to the UK anyway.

Hi to you George, and welcome to the forum.
Hope you'll stay and take full advantage of the experience and guidance here.
May I kindly ask you consider the benefits of getting married in the Philippines
and making application for Spouse visa. Arriving into the UK on a Fiance(e) visa can (currently) result in a very long and difficult wait before being able to work.

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
