The one in Orpington (if it's still there) is not far away from those areas you mentioned. Far East food supplies, 284 Hight street, Orpington, Kent. BR8 0ND. Tel no.: 01689 838330. The Leo's minimart one I've mentioned before in Gillingham, Kent is not a million miles away.

Yes, the Sari Sari in Orpington is still there ... at least it was last week !

Also, a sar-sari has recently opened in Tooting, in Mitcham Rd, not far from Tooting Broadway tube.

Does anyone know what the BEST Filipino restaurant is in London? I've been searching online, and I've found mixed reviews. Most of the positive reviews were from British people/other foreigners. The Filipinos are the ones that gave the bad critiques so... I'm lead to think that they are actually bad?

I usually cook daily for my Fiance, but sometimes I like to go out and have some home cooked style Filipino food.

I have to be the exception to the rule then as I dont rate any of the few pinoy places in London,in fact I always found pinoy food probably the worst cuisine in asia,as I always say to pinays here when they spring to the defence of their national dishes, why do you think there are so few pinoy restaurants in the UK but many chinese, indian,Thai, even vietnamese and indonesian but few pinoy?Indicative of something I guess

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

We used to go to Josephine's Restaurant in London to try out other speaciality of Filipino foods, the restaurant is small but clean and I can say foods are in reasonable price. Although I can cook and my husband told me my recipe's are the the best

I used to run my own short order business here in the PH but I had to stop cos I went to UK but I would like to continue the business when I get back there.

Btw, here is their website if you and your fiance would like to try out one day.

I suppose it can't hurt to try Josephine's, even though it has pretty bad reviews online! D: I suppose I really have to find out for myself. My Lola used to have a short order business until she got a bit older. But she was such an amazing cook. D:

I will try the Port Manila one as well. It can't hurt!

And another question actually... I'm not sure if it's just the markets that I've been going to, but I have not been able to find seaweed sheets (nori sheets) in any Tesco, Morrissons, Sainsbury's, etc. Is this just my local ones does anybody know? If I have to go to an actual Asian supermarket to find them, I'm not sure where the nearest one is.

I don't think those supermarkets you mentioned sell those stuffs. Try Waitrose, if not there's a japanese supermarket in picaddily - I forgot the name though I love to shop out there.

Piccadilly is a little too far to be going out on a daily basis. I suppose I could just google the nearest Asian shop though... Most of the places around Shepherd's Bush are Arab.

I remember being fed pigs trotters or some other ghastly stuff in the Philippines and of course I said it was sarap out of being polite... but by the way they reacted, you would think they'd introduced me to the greatest new culinary delight on the planet! I know there is a bit of nationalism involved but that is ridiculous!

    Hi Wayne,

I wonder if this info would be best placed and easier to look up in this thread Asian / Filipino Food & Supplies within the Culture, Food & Recipes sub-forum ??

I leave it to you to decide. Just let me know.

Be a shame to lose it in this Loose Talk, Chat and Off Topic forum.

Is it possible to put photos on with the address also listed or is this not practical to do. I cant say Ive seen a dedicated Philippine food outlet. I send things to Philippines and from what I send out Branston Pickle and Strawberry jam are very popular.
