Thanks to all those who said to just apply for the family permit, as that worked! I didn;t believe it would, but it did!

Both Mari and Cagey got a EEA Family Permit (but limited for a year?) which starts on the 10th!

    Good job
Are you sure the Family Permit states 1 year validity? Usually that has 6 month stated.
Not that it really matters, as that validity doesn't actually apply.

I would suggest serious consideration be given to application for residence card. There's lots of benefits that make life so much easier. Especially when it comes to employment and overseas travel.

Those were the dates she gave me on the phone. Didn't see it yet, as her internet is down (provider issue).

Yes, that's the next step. It seems if you have a residence card you can just so travel to Germany, so that's a nice benefit. Alas, I don't think there is enough time for this years Christmas - it would be great to have some snow, but that is just a wee bit unlikely here in Reading.

Heh. She is used to stupid American dates. The visa it valid from 11/10/2012 - 11/04/2013. October - April, not November - November.

    That's it 6 months.
Once she arrives to UK the expiry date of the Family Permit does not count.
However she will need to enter UK before 11th April.
