New Zealand citizens can travel visa free into the UK and Europe. A migrant in New Zealand with Permenant Residence does not get that benefit until they have the passport.

Yet a non-European spouse of a British subject cannot travel freely across to EU countries without first obtaining a bloody Schengen visa ... until they've acquired British Citzenship.

! Having twice gone through all the "blood", "sweat and tears " needed to obtain one for my wife, I can confirm that, even though there was no fee involved, it's a lorra hassle getting the requisite documents together. ... thank the Lord we, as a couple, can now travel more or less anywhere without restriction.
