What to do upon receiving a REFUSAL for your settlement visa.

Could somebody please share what are your options upon receiving a refusal for your settlement visa?

From reading through peoples previous posts i can see that you can contact the Entry Clearance Manager and request reconsideration, start an appeal, contact your local MP ect.

For contacting the ECM, where do we get the contact details? How long do you get to put a case to them on your refusal ?

How long do you get to lodge an appeal ? Do you have to wait until you have heard back from the ECM ? Do you have to pay to appeal ?

How can contacting your MP help ? What stage should this be done ?

I am still awaiting my decision and would just like a heads up on what to expect and to understand the process a little in the case of a refusal.

After reading cases like Big Marco's, it really leaves you no faith that the ECO's with all the power they have will use it properly...

When visa refusal are made the Embassy will send a formal notice of refusal.
This will contain all the details and the forms for any appeal you want to make.
