Skin Whitening
I am glad Mrs Lastlid has stopped using this stuff.....
"For centuries Indian women have been raised to believe that fairness is beauty, and this has given rise to a vast and ever-growing skin-whitening industry - which is now encouraging women to bleach far beyond their hands and face.
It all began with a YouTube video a friend sent me. You need to see this, she said, trying to contain her shock and laughter. And so I pressed play.
It was an advert. A couple sits on a sofa. The husband reads a paper ignoring his beautiful wife: her face, a picture of rejection.
What could this be selling? I wondered, as I watched.
Moments later, this scene of spurned love turned soapy when the leading lady was seen taking a shower.
But - she wasn't using any ordinary shower gel. No, she was using a skin lightening wash, which, as the graphic which then popped up on screen informed the viewer, would lighten her genitals."

I do wish they didn't feel the need to use this crap.
It's been shown that some brands (if not all) include highly toxic chemicals in the ingredients....like Mercury.
.
I love dem brown girls....darker the better for me.

I really only became aware of this when I went to the Philippines last year. I noticed that most of the women on TV appeared to be lighter skinned and when I mentioned it to my wife she told me why. Couldn't believe it and I wouldn't swap my little brown skinned beauty for anything.

Mind you its the same the world over. Women over here spend fortunes on fake tanning products and end up looking like something from a Tango ad

Not everybody feels that way. It's our entertainment/modeling/advertising industry that's at fault. I can remember when there were mostly brown-skinned people on TV commercials here. It wasn't too long ago. These days, women get told they have to have white underarms and joints (WTH??), light pink genitals (I blame Western porn), and fair skin all over (you know, like all the half-Caucasian models and starlets we have).
It depends too on who you're with. I know some surfers and chicks in other outdoor sports who wear their freckles and tans like badges of honour. But people here will say that's because they look like they have money to go on vacations and get tanned, which is like having money to sit indoors and not work in the sun. Folks who look like they got dark working in the sun apparently aren't pretty enough.
Don't rule out the guys. When I was in Arkansas, one of the undergrads had a gorgeous tan in February, while I was almost as pasty as the rest of the white kids. I asked him how he got such a nice tan in winter, and he pulled up his shirt to reveal his golden abs (he was really buff) then said, "Go to the Sun Country Tanning Salon next to the laundromat. It only costs $25 for this."
You should've put an emergency drink by the bed the night before.

Like Graham said, its the chemicals in the whitening products that bother me.
