unwanted guests
i live in a victoria terrace, and its beautiful i think, but i have these unwanted guests,SLUGS, the little sods leave there marks where ever they go but where they start and finnish there is no slug, wso where do they go too, be great to see them so i can put them out over next doors fence, went to bed last night around midnight woke up around 8 and it seems there was a mass meeting of them on my carpet, any thoughts before emma sees them and i start to eat them in a curry

you need to leave a trap for them Steve. Leave a few lettuce leaves in a corner overnight and they should still be there in the morning feasting, then you can let Emma curry them

Depends on whether your slugs want a budget meal from a basics range or feed them up on a Ramsey gourmet special

If you're cruel and nasty then pour salt on them. Otherwise some pellets (buy some from a garden centre) might be a good idea (assuming no children or pets roaming around). They don't teleport in so I suggest you put the pellets around the edges of the room where they may be entering, the fireplace, under the fridge, doorways etc. (mind you, they might teleport in, they move so slowly when you're looking at them, but seems to leave long trails showing zippy progress around places at night!
Btw. the worst thing is if you tread on one. Yuk yuk yuk.

Slugs need dampness, so perhaps there is ventilation problems in your underfloor? It's worth a check anyway.
However in the meantime, as long as you don't have pets, stick a few pellets down - but then clear up in the morning. You will "probably" get the majority of them this way. Slugs indoors are a bit unusual really (But a problem I've had from time to time)

Correct.
A damp problem that needs looking at.
Get someone in with a damp meter.
