    What a P***take

Just had a brain wave, or thought I did. I will order some pesos from HSBC to take with me so I can extend my visa at the airport. I can do that online and save me the trouble of going to the bank. So thought I will just check the exchange rate, ok ready for this 58-86 peso to the £ so they know what they can do with that

Don't waste your time getting pesos here.

You can change some in the airport , and even there...much better rate.

I always try to keep a few hundred back from the previous trip, just enough to get away from NAIA.

Moneysavingexpert.com has a foreign exchange calculator showing the cheapest way to buy money for your particular circumstances.

The last 2 times I ended up buying peso from NatWest over the phone, collecting from my nearest branch.

However, if I can walk into the embassy (which embassy?) with £100 and walk out with 7200 peso, I'll try that in future!

If Phils... just put a hotel at first.

Google the address of any one you want.

Can you explain a bit more.

    Which form ?

    Philippine Immigration ?

Just give the address of anyone you know and trust....or your Solicitor.

    It's not that important.

I used to give anyone like that (govt.depts) my parents' address in the UK.

I'm pretty sure they don't bother to check any of your UK details anyway....until they need somewhere to send the bill for your funeral.

When I went to live in the Phils for a few years I also arranged for my dad to have power of attorney in my absence.

I've also been lucky in having a brother high up in the FCO, so (hopefully) he'd have helped me out if needed.

Unfortunately its the other way round. Consular services are quoted in good old British £s so anything that so costs £100 is calculated locally at the British Embassy rate of P7200 instead of the more touristy P6500. Its more funds in the Philippines.

For my marrigae forms a car with an Aunt and her Sister who worked at the town hall back in Laguna turned up and we filled in a form for our Wedding which was in six months time or whatever some of the details i could not remeber i was jet lagged and no interweb on phone them days and too early to call back to Uk at that time, so made educated guess on some details. Guess what no one cared but they had the paperwork and they could stamp it and make some money and get some gifts
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
