    Second and third generation migrants struggle to understand even basic instructions

    They were born in the UK, but many second and third generation immigrants speak or understand hardly any English, it was revealed today.

    There is no way round this for the government. If they were born here we are stuck with them end of story. As for talking about culture it wont change.

    In the Philippines, some of the kids now can understand and speak English as early as toddler years..some of my friends with young kids want them to learn English as early as possible so it won't be a problem for them just in case they go overseas. And now that a few of them are living overseas (Australia, Dubai, etc.), the kids can cope up with the language.
