Savoury Pilchard Pie
Savoury Pilchard Pie (or Sardines)
Drain the juice from a large can of pilchards
Split the pilchards into halves along the spine
Prepare 4 hardboiled eggs and slice 3-4 large tomatoes
Line a shallow pie dish with enough pastry to just cover a shallow pie dish.
Roll out more pastry for top of pie.
Lay the pilchards over the lined pie dish, next add the eggs and top off with the tomatoes.
Place the pastry lid on top and crimp edges. don't forget to make steam vent in top)
Bake in oven till pastry is golden brown.
It's really tasty either hot or cold.
It's also an ideal recipe when you have some children 'helping' you.
I normally buy readymade pastry and it always works fine.
This is one of the recipes that friends always ask us to bring to get-togethers.
