A Tall Story?
Anything but ... it's true!
When my late first wife married someone with a surname like mine, she was taking on a lot!
How come?
Well, the fact is, at scarcely 5ft tall, she was of petite build ... and fully 12" shorter than myself.
One day, many years ago, she went into the Bank to collect my monthly salary, which was paid into our joint account.
After signing the completed withdrawal form, and handing it over the counter to the male teller, she happened to catch a glimpse of the odd *expression on the young man's face ... *a cross between disbelief and mirth.
At first, she was as to what he found so amusing - then it "twigged": She'd signed herself - wait for it! - I.M. Little! And, of course, there was she ... head only just visible to the man behind the glass partition.
Needless to say ... she took the immediate decision to sign documents using her full Christian name from that day forward.
