original work permit missing
Hi folks
I am in the middle of organising my documents for my indefinite leave to remain application in the UK this May. I just noticed that my original work permit is missing.
I am now worried, as I don't have the original work permit with me which they might ask in support for my ILR application. I am keeping a photocopy though, but not sure if its suffice.
Do they normally check this document?
Please advice.
Many thanks.
Mike

Hi Mike,
I'm sure you know already that you'll need to apply using the new Form SET(O) (April 2013 version)
Here's the link for the new form
Better take a review just to be sure you can complete all the needed info's
Normally you won't need that original work permit.
UKBA will not generally do any 'back-office' checks or request additional documentation UNLESS some data is either missing from the application form or is causing some doubt.
Of course if your application gets 'pulled' out at random as part of a quality monitoring performance review, they will take a deeper look as part of the process and not for any other reason.
By the way the fees for application are £946 for applications made by post or courier, and £1321 for the same day premium service applications at the PEOs.
Don't forget that unless exempted or within the HSMP ILR judicial review group you'll need to have passed the “Life in the UK" test.
Good Luck.

Hi Terpe
Thanks for your reply. I consulted an immigration specialist today and he said they don't require the original work permit for ILR application. What he advised me, is to get a reference confirming my periods of employment with my old company or old P60’s and P45 which I already sorted.
I am just confused about the fees you posted, I think those are meant for countries
which have ratified the 1961 Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC), ie Croatia, FYR
Macedonia and Turkey. It should be £1051 for standard, and £1426 for personal appearance. PLease correct me if I'm wrong.
With regards to my Life in the UK test, I already passed the exam since last year.
Thank you.
Mike

My sincere apologies Mike.
Yes you are correct. From the form:-
If you are a single applicant on form SET(O) and no dependants are applying with you, the normal specified fees are £1051 for standard applications made by post or courier, or £1426 for applications made in person at a Public Enquiry Office (PEO),in those categories/routes for which that service is available.
