I just have the one mixed race son, here pictured last year with his Filipina half-sister.

His mum is 4'10", me 6'1", and now at 18 he is 5'9" tall, and has mainly inherited his mother's features, but sadly saddled with a (mercifully smaller) version of my nose.

He also has the sweet and sociable nature of his mum and siblings.

Phew. Thats good that he isnt 4ft 10". ( And he still has 3 years more growing time )

    Thanks for that insight Graham.

My ex wife's mother (Scottish) was no more than 5ft 2" and her dad was way over 6ft. And she has 2 brothers. My ex wife is taller than average and one brother is around 5ft 10" But the other brother is not much higher than his / her mother......

Don't get me wrong on this. It is the "bonus" that you speak of that was behind my original thread. And besides, it can be fun thinking about it it in advance.

Height is like other traits, mostly the result of inheritance, but also the environment ( for example, nutrition ). Multiple genes are involved ( polygenic ). Several genes have been identified associated with height variability in the normal population ( especially “ High Mobility Group “/ HMGA2 ). While very tall parents do have tall offspring, they tend not to be as tall as the parents, and vice versa ( “ regression to the mean “ ).
    Average height for UK males is around 5’9” ; females 5’4” – Filipino males 5’4” ; females 5’ .
