Help learning Tagalog
Hi,
I'm living in Stratford, East London and looking for some help learning tagalog.
I am engaged to a wonderful woman and planning to travel back to Philippines at the end of this year. I know her family speak english however I am interested in having some conversational skill.
I have previously downloaded a couple of different software programs that help teach the basics, but to be honest I'm finding it hard going. I am working through '2Speak' level one course right now which has set modules and a structured learning approach.
Are there any Tagalog speakers here in the London area, preferably east London, or near Chiswick where I work that can spare a couple of hours each week to help me?
I am looking for some conversation work and am happy to follow through the software course I have already purchased if that helps. I don't mind paying something for your time, but I really am keen to learn.
My email is chrislambiepieATmsnDOTcom
Thanks in advance for any help
Best Regards

For Tagalog language, Rosetta Stone is quite popular but also very expensive.
Another good choice for Tagalog may be BYKI (Before You Know It)
Look here:-
http://www.byki.com/
It's free.
One thing is that this also have vocalisations, so you can hear how a word is pronounced.
Other very useful sites are:-
http://www.omniglot.com/language/phrases/tagalog.php
http://www.forvo.com/languages/tl
Both of these sites have Bisay/Cebuano and Tagalog just check for the language menu
Happy learning

Thanks for the feedback so quickly......
Thanks for the quick responses and information on sites, I will check them out.
Good tip to write down that's how i revised for my exams years back.
I hate study but I'm keen and I realise I have to work to get the result I want.
Thanks again

There was a filipino shop in Plaistow Road, E15 selling groceries etc and also video rentals. Go past Plaistow station , then over the bridge and it was in a parade of shops on the left heading towards Stratford. The area is full of Filipino`s so you could always put an add in the window asking for a Tutor.

Thanks
Thanks Pete, I know the set of shops you mean and will go check it out this week.
I don't know if that shop you mention is still there but definitely worth a look.
Regards
Chris
