Steve, I was there at the end of Dec 2010 and Jan 2011. It was warmer than the UK but a lot colder than the Phil's. At a guess I'd say the temp when I was there was 18-20 in the day, with clear blue skies and down to 10 - 12 at night. I was wearing jeans and a light jacket.

I was only there for 4 or 5 days in total, so I don't know how typical that is Maybe someone who's lived there, such as Graham or Scott can give you a better idea

I certainly wouldn't bother taking a winter coat to Hong Kong, you won't need it. When I lived there for two years, I can recall wearing the odd jumper and trousers or jeans over the festive period as it was definitely cooler/ less humid around this time but I didn't wear a jacket. I haven't been to Hong Kong for a number of years so the weather (like everywhere else) is probably changing.

Like an average British summer day that time of year, though when I worked there back in the 90s they had record lows for a while, and on my night shift it got down to 7C and I was glad I'd brought a couple of jumpers.

    Summer, just like the Phils.

stevewool. just been there for a week last 2 weeks ago. it was hot and a bit cooler when its night time but that is only if you are in some mountains. coz mostly the tourist spot is on mountain. So i think its good to bring small jacket or balabal incase you want to go out at night time. Not sure what the weather on December though..

Hi Steve, xmas/ new year should be around 20 during the day and a bit cooler in the evenings, wear rubber shoes/trainers or deck shoes with socks in the late afternoon/evening to avoid the mossies. Visit the website weatherunderground for historic data over the years from 1995 . look for the almanac tab and input date wanted. have a great time in HK... Call me for my tourist guide to HK
