child benefit and working tax credits
hi all,
just wanted some advice,
my wife(filipina) is here with me in the uk on a family visit visa valid for 6 mths, any ideas if me applying for child benefit (for our british daugter) and tax credits will affect her as a recourse to public funds?
also will it affect her settlement visa appl. when she applies for it upon departure from the uk?
i heard if its under my name then its ok and it wont cause her any problems? does anyone know any better? and advice would be appreciated.

On the basis of your *daughter's British Nationality, I should imagine Child Benefit and/or tax credits would be claimable by you - on *her behalf - while she is here in the UK ... without those payments affecting your wife's non-entitlement to public funds. But to make doubly sure, I'd suggest checking it out with your local Jobcentre Plus.

i think to claim them your daughter must be a resident of the uk, not sure how many weeks you can claim for, once she leaves the uk with your wife.
