Just filed application for settlement visa
Hi to all,
Happy New year to everyone! I just want to share that I just filed my spouse visa and settlement visa for my child dependent last Monday, Jan. 11.
Can anyone tell me how many days does it usually take before you get the visa? What type of visa do you get for a spouse and child dependent?
I am praying so hard that my son and I get a visa. I hope all the documents I submitted is sufficient.
We are keeping our fingers crossed.
Thanks in advance!

Mickaela
It's difficult to say just how long the process takes.
Some members have reported just a few days and others have had to wait about a month.
It appears to depend on the amount and complexity of supporting documents.
But, then again there's not a lot of feedback for 2011 right now so lets hope the workload is not so great.
Anyway we all have our fingers crossed for you.

About two years ago, it was normal to wait for anything up to 3 months for Settlement Visas; however, in more recent times, some people have been getting theirs in a matter of weeks. And ... although it's difficult to guage for sure ... I imagine there are likely to be fewer applicants during the months of January & February ... leading to a more rapid turnover. Good luck with yours.

Hi Jeane,
My pleasure to share with you my experience!...I went to their makati office, spoke to the British consultant, he was very pleasant, helpful & supportive...actually I was the 1st settlement visa applicant who took the test, so it was like his practice test:-)....I visited Nov 26 straight off from the VFS office after realizing that I can't get away with it, so went back on Nov 30 (a day after this new ruling was implemented), I paid up front (cash) and took the test straight away!..I managed to finish the exam about 20-30 minutes, very basic, just daily conversation/grammar/expressions/correct word to use...I'm sure you can do it!!
But like I said in my post (if you have read it) that I wasn't fortunate enough to get my certificate as what have had promised, due to some reasons...hope this help! when do you intend to take it anyway?

hi jeanne,
i took my IELTS exam composed of an interview for the speaking, a written exam for reading, writing and listening. The exam was given by the British Council last Oct. 30. You have to check their schedules online. Here is the link --> http://www.britishcouncil.org/learning-ielts
goodluck to you!

Hi everyone I finally got my spouse visa last January 25 right after my bday! Yipee!
Hi Joe, I think the equivalent of A1 level in IELTS is a 4. But I got a 7.
Thanks for all your advices! My son from my previous marriage got a visa too. Double celebration for us.
Thank God!
