    2018 World Cup Bid

William Hill are 8/11 for England, Russia 15/8, Portugal/Spain 9/2

If we don't get it I think the major forces in World Football eg England, Germany, Italy, France etc should pull out of FIFA thus leaving Blatter and his slippery, corrupt cohorts stranded

Good point Les but I'd have liked to have seen the world cup come here. I'm totally against us having the Olympics which at the moment is a honey pot for the trough feeders from the so called delivery authority and will become a national financial millstone.

Roman's wad obviously did the trick with Blatter and his gang.

Normally I'd join you in a rant about this one but to be honest i'm sick of the England team, the manager and the whole thing.

Prefer champions league I think now til we ever get e decent England side.

The Ashes is more bloody exciting and thats my focus at the moment

I mainly agree except I find watching paint dry a bit less boring than the cricket

It will be interesting to see where the stadiums are and if England get shoved out in deepest Siberia. Surely no one ever really thought England would get it? It was always about FIFA trying to open up new markets...and of course the odd oligarch lining a few pockets on the way.

Qatar will be an interesting one, the middle eastern states have certainly proved they can put on the F1 in style, I'm sure they will build fantastic facilities. The only problem there might be the heat?

Graham Taylor sums up the FIFA Scumbags nicely on the BBC

Former England manager Graham Taylor also dismissed criticism of the media and said nothing about Fifa surprised him any more.

"I'm just surprised that we're surprised," he said. "Fifa is an organisation that doesn't have to answer to anyone. What did we expect?

"Fifa for me is full of people who say 'yes' to your face and 'no' behind your back. Their reputation has not changed over many years.

"England have had little or no influence. We are considered to be arrogant and know-alls."

He also defended the English media, whose investigations into Fifa have been cited by some people as one of the reasons for the bid's failure.

"I'm not one of those blaming Panorama or the Sunday Times - this has been going on for years," he said.

"I just have a feeling that perhaps, just perhaps, it might now be time... they really need looking into, they should really be investigated - and of course our journalists are very good at that."

Taylor also criticised the decision to give the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, adding on BBC Radio 4's PM programme: "It really is surprising. Where is the heart and soul of football in Qatar? And yet that decision has been made."

Qatar hosting a world cup? now i thought the world cup was about leaving behind a legacy for the game and it building from there. So in qatar they build a load of new stadiums, once the world cup is over they take them down and send them to poorer countries? now i wonder how many of the voting panel will have secured a new stadium for their country instead of a cash bribe?

I dont really resent russia winning their bid. but qatar?

ahh they plan to air condition their stadiums. yes im sure it will be amazing, so accessible for the majority of the world, amazing facilities, a couple of million football fans within 60km of each other. they will be sharing most police from the middle east, or they will need too as so many fans living so close to each other will create problems. Even more so when people realise how hard it is to socialise there considering there is nothing in the country, you want a beer? well choose one of very few bars.

Wonder if the guys have to cover their knees as usual. walking around with no shirt on looooooooool interesting.. only thing left is to have breaks during the games at prayer times.. sorry guys, 40 mins break now BUTTTTTTTTT im sure they will host a stunning world cup, just makes more sense to have it in a real football nation to me

Well Qatar managed to put on an excellent F1, they are not short of the resources to do it in style.
