    Crocodile meat

Perhaps a strange question, but I have always wanted to try crocodile meat. I'm going to Palawan in January and I know it is home to many crocodiles. Just wondering if it's on the menu in Palawan? I'm not particularly squeamish and am happy to try any reptilian meat, after all it's only a fish with legs

I've not had crocodile meat in Philippines, but have had it in South Africa.
It's quite juicy and tender, but more firm than chicken when you bite it.

It's a white meat with a mild neutral flavour. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but really if someone would tell it was chicken, you wouldn't question it.
You can tell it comes from the water though not the land.

    Well worth the experience

It's nothing like reptile (as in lizard) nothing at all.
I once had Iguana and it tasted like .... well lizard (horrible)

No ... it was actually a relative [by marriage] of Myrna's that offered me it. And he was tucking in with his fingers ... like there was no tomorrow!

I'd love to try snake, where was the restaurant Arthur. I know it's a popular dish in Taiwan, China and Vietnam but didn't realise they ate it in the Phil's too

Edit, just read your later post Arthur

I'd happily try it in a restaurant, but not so sure I'd want to eat something a local villager has cooked up on a calor gas/camping stove. Not sure why that is? After all if it's cooked it's cooked, right?

I'd imagine crocodile meat would have a bite to it.

I ordered a snake and crocodile sandwich once.
Couldn't have it as they said they had run out of bread.

I had Alligator nuggets on holiday in Florida before, at a Gatorland theme park. It wasnt horrible, but the meat was very chewy almost slightly rubbery, but yes they tasted a bit like chicken! lol

Alligator nuggets? ... reminds me of the man living in the Protestant area of Belfast.

He kept an alligator in his back yard as a pet. And one evening, the reptile accompanied him to the local pub ... wherupon he walked up to the bartender and asked the fellow if he served Catholics ...

... Och "t'be shure, Paddy ... t'be shure", replied the barman

"Roightiho", said Paddy "Oi'll have a Guiness for meself ... an' a Catholic for me alligator!"

... should anyone deem this to be in bad "taste" - or in any way offensive to his/her religious persuasions - please let me know, and I shall remove it forthwith.

That would be an unfair "alligation" ...unless the alligator is Protesting
