It gets better Arthur................. P45's are being prepared for 4 more Labour old boys

Four more public sector chieftains face the axe following the decision to sack 'incompetent' quango queen Jenny Watson, Whitehall sources said yesterday.

They include a former Labour cabinet minister as well as the head of an agency devoted to squeezing more money out of council tax payers.

Their names are in the frame after promises of 'a bonfire of the quangocrats' from within the Coalition. The contempt of the Communities Secretary Eric Pickles for the qualities of many of the quango executives is reflected in a sweeping statement from a Whitehall source.

Miss Watson was first on the hit list. The 'modern militant' angered ministers when, as chief of the Electoral Commission, she blamed others for the election night polling fiasco that saw hundreds deprived of the chance to vote.

Pity the cuts couldn't be extended to include these glorified penpushers employed by Health Boards ... to stop them riding roughshod over top-ranking medical and nursing staff in NHS hospitals.
