we are all differant like you and most others say arthur, if i had the choice i would love to marry emma in the phils , ie her family is there and this being her first and only marriage and i would love to honeymoon on a tropical beach also, but i cant so the next best thing is to have emma here with me, yes the cost is high but i have put aside for that plus my work i cannot be off work to long , so what is right for me and i hope emma is what we are doing right now, and congrats again arthur

Admittedly, for someone like me ... who's lucky enough to be retired ... the choice is more easily made (and one hell of a lot less expensive!). I mean WHY pay nearly seven hundred quid to bring your betrothed to the UK, incur the hugely-inflated costs of even the smallest ceremony here ... and then be forced to fork out [roughly] the same fee AGAIN just a few months later ... to allow your [by then] lawfully-wedded spouse to remain in this country for the next two and a bit years?? Incredible!

However, I'm totally with you in your second statement; it IS up to couples themselves to decide.
Well there you go then Arthur.
Personally, I've tried not to let money be a deciding issue (I don't have any, seriously), in any of our plans, as it would be too depressing, if I calculated every expense...our personal happiness, is far more important.

P.S. Congratulations! on your promotion to Moderator...Do you have to go to Buckingham Palace, to receive your title?

As you were annoyed at me for saying that the fiancee visa is better than the spouse visa (I didn't actually say that directly anyway..), shouldn't you now be annoyed at Arthur for saying the spouse visa is better than the fiancee visa?
