I'm afraid it's a cross we all have to bear, Stevie c.
It is another money making exercise for our governments
Nothing we can do about it.

i dont believe this....7 year old comprehension? I think they should check on the application first and ask on what educational level has the applicant reach before they go through this test.
People who are trying to apply is going to have seizures from too much worries now...from the application itself, biometric, medicals, the vise fee, interview, the CFO, and now the English test. Blimey!
    Guys, aint it getting ridiculus?

You would hope they have the test or you can prove that you have a equivalent or superior qualification. possibly that will be the case

Personally I think its a good Idea for the country and the people who wish to enter the country.
There are many people in this country who have such a limited English language skills they cant easily communicate with the rest of the population.

The Wife took a Ilets which seemed to show that she had decent level of English that would help her settle in the country and find work. It actually helped her get her first job showing the Manger that she had good English skills which in her customer service job was more important than lets say a maths qualification.
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

You can't blame the UK government for the CFO, and that is the one (in my opinion) that is the biggest waste of time.

To be honest unless the UK sponsor and the applicant speak a common language other than English if you can't pass the test (assuming it is at the standard of a 7 year old) then it may give reason to question your relationship.

yes darren -b you have a very good point it really shouldnt affect the filipinas too much as most can speak english very well & therefore have no problem in passing this test just adds to the time waiting & ncosts what with all the visa application the cfo all documents supplied ect ect.

I agree to Sir Keith. It will not be that hard, specially for Filipinos. If really not sure with your English, there are lots online that will help one develop his/her English. The Learning English with Mr. Duncan in England is a good one.
