Marriage, NSO, CFO change status, Passport change, Visa - How long?

    Hi can anyone help.

Planning to marry in January then I beleive we will need NSO certification for the marriage certificate, CFO change status, passport change, and then finally apply for a vsa... Unless of course I have missed something out here.

Any ideas on how long this little lot will take will be much appreciated.

    Thank you, Best wishes.

    1. Marriage contract NSO Certified ( submit it to your local municipality right after the wedding to avoid delay)
2.Attend the CFO seminar if you have your visa already. you will be given CFO Guidance and Counseling Certificates and Registration Stickers on your passport. if no visa yet, you could attend but you will go back for the registration sticker.
    3. It wil take you time if you will change your passport. You could still use your passport in your single status name as long as it is still valid.
    4. You need copy of your NSO certified birth certificate

    sis, download the checklist http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images/Sett..._by_spouse.pdf

Me & my hubby also got married on january of 2008, and I had undergone all those procedures/processes afterwards.... it took me until june 19 that I finally got my visa & july 9 when I arrived in UK.

Hope yours would go smoothly without any problem at all! Good Luck!

I may be wrong, if I am I hope someone else will correct me, but I believe that the passport must be valid for at least 6 months when you apply for the visa.

Even if they don't insist it would seem sensible to make sure your passport is valid for 6 months or so after the date you tend to apply, otherwise it could have expired before you receive it back with your visa.

I would concur with everything Esther has mentioned above ... bearing in mind that the passport CAN still be used in your unmarried name, so long as it has FULLY 6 months' validity left at the time you submit your application - otherwise it would be prudent to renew it beforehand on the basis of the [average] processing time being around three months for spousal visas.

Thank you for all the replies. So if we were to apply for the spouse visa using the original passport in the maiden name can we change the passport easiliy in the UK? And how much? What about the visa stamp that will be in the old passport? Thnaks again.

you could easily change your old passport in the philippine embassy london.the fee is 36 pounds. as far as i remember the processing of mine took 3 weeks.they returned my old passport.what i did is since the visa stamp is in my old passport, i stapled the two passports together.
