Tagalog speaking whiteys and CREAM!
OK, this is a 2 part rant
Part 1
Have you ever noticed that Filipino celebrities are a kinda pale white? I mean, I am of scots descent, and I'm a bit white myself, but these filipino celebrities look like a cross between casper the ghost and a giesha girl! What's going on here? These people are whiter than I am, and I'm white! They are the role models for Filipinos - "we're all right, we're all white" it seems.
They seem to have their own race - filipino celebrities. They're generally as white as michael jackson was at the end! I'm scared!
Where I live here in the Philippines, people are BROWN! on the TV, if the people were any more white, they'd be transparent! Do they hate their brown-ness? Do they not want to look like "ordinary", "poor" filipinos whilst still making money off them? What is it about white skin that's so appealing?
Part 2
Follows on from part 1 . . . why the hell do Filipinos want to use whitening cream? I joked to a friend once who was thinking of setting up a business here in the Philippines, if you advertise and say your product will whiten people's skin, they'll buy it by the jeepeney load!
I felt like getting a t-shirt made that said "I'm not a foreigner, I just use ponds and it works"!
Don't think they'd get it!

filipinos are obsessed of being white that's why skin whitening product in the Phils is the biggest industry. that's why majority of filipinos loves to have a pale white babies, its like if someone gave birth the first thing they want to know if the baby is "maputi or maitim" (black/brown o white) or "matangos o pango" (flat or pointed nose) rather than asking if they baby is healthy
if you have a white baby in Phils (probably from a white foreign partner) for sure you are very popular in the village or barrio where you live or everywhere you go you have the cutest baby and everyone telling you that she will be a superstar in the future or telling you to audition on tv etc
if your colour are white your IN if your brown/black unnoticeable

Kris Aquino, until the day I took this Kris was my Ana's favourite celeb.
We were on the same flight to Boracay and when we got off Ana tried to be polite and say a few words, got a total brush off from this lady.
They all want to be white seems to be a very widespread Asian thing even my partner is pretty white but that is just because she hides from the sun

Yes cheese, like this lovely mistisa
Sorry I keep promoting my lovely wee Scottish/Filipino lassie but at least it's not exactly the same shot I posted the other day
Mixed blood James, Ana said "told you" never gonna be happen that our baby is dark
I think it is such a shame that they are not happy in their own skin as they are all such lovely beautiful people the way they are.

I've never had a problem with any 'pinoy stars' which I came across on our travels, president Gloria Arroyo waved to me and the misses thru the window on her limo as she sped off after we had been to a Martin Nievera concert,
at a Ogie 'chipmunk' Alcasid concert, he went into the crowd, i was within 3ft of him, my misses wanted to met him, i was tempted to grab him and push him towards the misses as she was too shy to go near him

yes little Joe is whiter than me , and my parents are from the Baltics, and you don't get much whiter than them (I've blonde hair and blue eyes )
only thing he has from his mom are brown eyes and brownish hair (but at the back he has a blondish streak ) told the misses its because of her weak pinoy dna

Wow that's fairly white Joe
I'm hoping more of Ana shows through as she gets older, at the moment, or at least a few months back it was only the eyes, Ana wanted blue eyes for Janna but there was almost no chance of that given the genetics, I'm green/grey.
My biggest worry is how such a fair skinned wee lassie will fare in such a sunny country she even has a touch of red in her hair.

This does appear to be true Sophie really don't know why
I guess that there is already a lot of mixing from the many years of occupation by foreign powers, Spain, America, the Japs and so on.
My Ana is a mix of Malay, Chinese and Spanish to start with so probably no surprise that the foreign traits surface in the next generation.
I really do hope my daughter takes on some of her mums beauty as she get older, my UK daughter was the same, looked like me till she got to her early teens then became a very beautiful young woman
Janna's big sister
They have not met yet I really hope they do soon
