My wife had a passport before we got married. Once we got married she applied for new passport with her married name on. We thought it best to do this tosave any hassle later.

In my case, I did not use my husband's surname. My passport is still valid until 2014. And when I applied for spouse visa, I used my passport and got the visa with my unmarried name on it.

CRITICIZING OTHERS IS A DANGEROUS THING, NOT SO MUCH BECAUSE YOU MAY MAKE MISTAKES ABOUT THEM, BUT BECAUSE YOU MAY BE REVEALING THE TRUTH ABOUT YOURSELF.

We did the same as Pumpkins with my wifes passport. We thought that this may be better for my wife when she first comes to this country and has to go throught passport control.
