Ladies, do you prefer to be a plain housewife or do you want to have a professional career as well? Guys, do you want your wife to stay at home and take care of the kids (and you ) or do you want her to have a career as well?

my husband don't mind me to working as long as i balance my time with him, and for me im a hard worker and i don't like staying at home.

I have not yet met a Filipina who is not a hard worker and who wants to work. I think VB is right, it is about balancing child caring, time together and letting our wives flourish intelectually as they were often held back/could not finish education for financial or other reasons. At the same time even if we are financially able to allow/want our wives to stay home we need to respect their desire for some independence and ability to send funds home if they want or spend on things they just want without " asking hubby". I keep sying to ligaya that she has total access to our accounts with her own cards but she still sometimes says that she wants her own money. I appreciate this independant spirit very much and try to find ways for her to work for home such as running a Swedish catalogue order cosmetics business, maybe applying for childminder training when our 2nd one is a little older or even starting a web support training course where she can work from anywhere.

With my wife and I, we are still waiting for her settlement visa but if possible she wants to work to give her the independance to be able to send money home without asking me.
As I have just retired I will happly become the "House Husband".

and i had two kind of work on 6days,
i like working specially i got my wages and holiday wow

Whenever I am bed,house,workplace etc I always work 24/7

Yes I will do all that except the ironing, I drip dry insted!
And with the cooking that will also mean I do not have fish and rice every meal

I want to work but at the moment i stock at home as we have 16 mos old toddler. So while the summer is good i have to plant ALOGBATE and KANGKONG as we had big garden...Anyone u peps want to cook SINIGANG?

Lucky you...you have all the time in the world to enjoy the UK. That would be fantastic too if you have friends around who are also not working so you can do some chika chika anytime.

I stayed at Tacloban City for a couple of years...studied there too before I went to Uni and came back to my parent's house in Manila. Lived at Justice Romualdez. Uy, I'm missing the street ihaw ihaw - sugba by the beach!

My wifey is a working wife...my biggest fear was that she would become a carer...and she did! Dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

But it's actually turned out good in many ways...she has many filipino friends now...it seems about 70% of the staff at these care homes are filipino's...they even cook themselves filipino dishes for themselves down there sometimes...

By the way is there any monument to thank the Filipino carers here in Britain...methinks they're should be...

Moving forward...I am lucky to get a job so quickly when I got into the UK. But my social life does not exist anymore! Compared to a few Filipinas, they get to work with fellow Filipinos, like Nigel's wife.

The two days off each week sometimes does not feel enough to cover everything, ie. sort the pets out, do weekly groceries, and etc.
