How long is the pre-marriage "counselling" valid for?

    Hi guys.

As most of you know, myself and Yam will be getting married at the end of the year.

I've heard all about the pre-marriage "counselling" that has to be done before applying for the marriage license, but how long is it valid for once you've completed it?

Yam thinks there is no expiry date, so we could do the counselling when I visit in June to get it out of the way. But is this correct? Or is there an expiry date like there is for the local CNI, etc?

    Hi Simon,
The pre-marriage counselling isn't a big deal really and it's something that can usually be fitted in during the 10 day waiting period for the marriage licence.

They usually do with groups of couples and they normally have a schedule, like every Wednesday or something like that, at a cost of about P50 or so, but when it comes to a foriegner who they assume can afford to pay maybe a couple of hundred pesos or more, then you usually find that you can call the shots and they'll do it at your convenience.
    Iain.

    Cool.

Wasn't sure if we had to do it before applying for the license or we could do it while waiting. If we can do it while waiting, then I can live with that!

    Thanks for the info Iain!

Hello DaveUk you can do the pre-marriage seminar ( Health Seminar) during the 10 days period your waiting for your marriage license, it will only take a few minutes as your a foreign national going to marry a filipina in the Philippines, it usually is just a simple interview, marriage license expires after 3 months as well as the local cni from the british embassy, so have them ready nearer to the month your going to get married.
