    Who is my stepsons sponsor?

I am a British Citizen and my wife and her son are Filipino and are currently completing their visa application forms (VAF4A).

Please can you advise me whether I can be my wife's sons sponsor, I am his stepfather but have not adopted him yet so am technically not his relative.

    Am I his sponsor?

yes you need to sponsor both of them

as your the one sponsoring his mother, the one with savings, job and accommodation.

you are a relative, as you've already said your his step father, no need to adopt him

thou with your stepson you will have to prove your wife has 'sole responsibility' of him.

    You will be the sponsor.

In my case, I was sponsoring my fiance and her daughter. We called VFS to clarify the situation, and were told that my fiance would sponsor her daughter. This is what we did, and when Shei arrived at the VFS, she was turned back because the forms were incorrect! Luckily, Shei planned to stay in Manila a few days (she is from Mindanao) and we hastily rearranged the appointment, quickly amended the VAF4 form for her daughter and resubmitted.

So, you are definately the sponsor. But, please ensure you complete a sponsorship undertaking form for both your fiance and her daughter.
