Places of interest in the philippines???
Hi there.
Am working through our January itinerary, and will be staying in Bohol for a week with my beloved gf
Ok!
This will bring us to the 14th of jan, when I will be meeting her parents
Heheheheh, just kidding, am sure they will be fine, lol
This will be for 2 more days in Gagayan De Oro.
The 16th will then be upon us, and seeing that I will be returning home on the 22nd, I need some ideas of places to visit please from all your good experiences
Am looking maybe for natural/cultural places, and beauty, for a romantic vacation.
Any ideas would be great please.
Many thanks in advance.

I spent my first ever holiday in the Philippines with my GF, later my wife at Alona Kew Resort, Panglao on Bohol.
For me it was paradise, romantic evening walks through the coconut trees on the beach, the smell of barbecue, cocktails at the beach bars.
We hired a cab for a day for about £20 and toured Bohol. Saw all the usual sights- the old church, blood compact memorial, chocolate hills, manmade forest, the tarsiers, Loboc river etc.
One day we'll go back there and do some diving.
There's a good variety of resorts at different prices. Alona Kew was reasonably priced but Alona Palm is luxury and the price reflects it.

Thanks for the nice reply Gav, but we have Bohol covered, and will be staying at the Bohol Plaza Resort. Check it out on the web, is a great place, and @1200 PhP p/n is great value for the comfort.
I must admit I find your advice on the Taxi very helpful. Thank you for that.
Am looking for other places of interest, or we could just return to Bohol I suppose, lol
Thanks againSatellite/Cable TV/Radiocommunications specialist.

Camiguin.
Yup, been there too! Visit the hot and cold springs, Katibawasan falls, white island. Apparently you can trek up the volcano and see hot vents but we didn't do that.
We stayed at the Bahay Bakasyunan resort but weren't that impressed so moved to the Golden Sunset which is British owned. A smaller resort but it has a nice pool next to the beach.
You could stay at the bizzare Enigmata treehouse which my wife swore blind she hadn't seen until I showed her the video of her standing by the entrance!
The sand is black, well, dark grey but take a boat out to white island and the sand is obviously white.

If your in Cagayan De Oro over the weekend, be sure to take in the night cafe in the city square one night and if you get a chance, call in at Kingston Lodge up near the airport and have a san mig or two with Tony King and rest of the ex-pat crowd up there. They all tend to meet up there on Wednesday afternoons for a few drinks and then on Sunday afternoons for Sunday lunch...... and of course, a few drinks afterwards.

Hi Fitzy
We went to Camiguin Island, before we went to Bohol. We stayed at Golden Sunset too. As per usual, we had nowhere to stay booked, when we got off the ferry. Somebody soon met us at the terminal & recommended Golden Sunset...
Off we jumped, into a multi-cab, along with a French couple, who also had nowhere to stay.
We arrived at the resort in the dark, so wasn't quite sure what it was like...Have to say, it was lovely waking up the next day.
It's a nice quite resort, nice garden & swimming pool & a nice hammock, to while away some time.
The rooms are quite basic, but clean & the people are friendly. There are tables, outside your room, where you can have breakfast & other meals...Just very relaxing.
There is another resort, just a short walk along the beach, can't remember what it's called, Johnny's dive centre is there & it's run by a Canadian & his Filipina wife. There's a bar/restaurant there.
Had a couple of meals there, had a nice pizza one afternoon.
White Island is a must, a short banka (boat) ride away. As is Ardent hot springs, swimming in lovely hot water, heated from the volcano Mt. Hibok Hibok.
As we left Camiguin for Bohol, by ferry, looking back at the Island, I could sort of imagine King Kong, might live the other side of the volcano & probably wrestle the odd giant python, ha!ha!
All in all, a nice Island, hope to go back soon.
When in Cagayan de Oro, Iain Busby is right, night cafe is definately worth a look...Never quite made Kingston Lodge Iain...Next time.
