    Fifth Gear / Top Gear

I have just been watching Fifth Gear.

Whilst it might be exciting/interesting, as this type of program concentrates on driving fast, even very fast, spinning, skidding, over drive, under drive I wonder what it has to do with reality. If one drove anything like those on these programs we would loose our licences and spend years traveling in buses or on bicycles.

Whilst it might be boring, how about a program about real driving, max speed 70 (120 km) and how cars behave in traffic jams and crowded city centres ?

Top gear when i was a kid used to have that bloke with the beard who was all practical everyday reviews. Now they have seen they are entertainment programes so facts and sensible reviews will not attract people along to watch either live or on TV.

How longs the waiting list for Top gear and how many countries do BBC sell it to?

They used to have decent vehicles on them that we all use, but these days they are just boys toys we are supposed to dream about.

Look at technolgy now on TV its all for entertainment. Tomorrows world and its ilk of all gone or been jazzed up.

Seems strange there is no programe on the TV about looking at technolgy apart from ones looking at gadgets and then in a wacky format

Incorrect, they had a Citreon C1 on review a few weeks ago; JC wasn't impressed.

You are also forgetting Top Gear is more about entertainment then facts (I'm sure most car mags do that job well), just because they drive a car fast, doesn't mean every single viewer watching it should copy them. If it really annoys you, the OFF button works wonders.

Its about dreaming of what car you would like to have. With so many tarck days at circuits now, its not impossible to drive like they do on these tv shows.
Who wants to really see cars on tv that we see in a supermarket car park?
I want to see the exclusive, elusive supercars, the unusual.

I don't watch it anymore!! Sport Sport Sport

When they have lesser cars on they compare them to Ferrari's Clarkson's online reviews of 'normal' cars are compared to his set of Lambourghini's

When the program first started out it used to be about the man on the street, now it has competely changed direction, so they may as well have renamed it.
