Family emergency
How it started....
Jet's sister Bessie had been ill for a few days, not eating, always drowsy and generally weak.
After giving her medicines from the house cupboard, paracetamol, ibuprufen and God knows what else that should have been discarded years ago, the family, at Jet's instigation and insistence, finally called a doctor which diagnosed Dengue....
Immediately on hearing the news we dispatched some money for whatever was necessary.
The poorly girl was taken to the local hospital, after a few days there, a few injections later, a CT scan, and a couple of bags of dextrose, they realized that she developed fluid in her brain...
And the best course of action would be to transfer her to Chung Hua Hospital, where they have better facilities to deal with this particular problem.
Hence the 5 am emergency call this morning.
Apparently, the money that we sent last week has been already exausted by all the tests and jabs, and more is needed urgently.
So I xoom-ed some over, hoping that it will get there a little faster than normal.
For the time being, I believe that, the father pawned or sold his fishing boat.
Jet was absolutely distraught, and got as mad as a hatter, as she did tell them to call the doctor when she first heard that her sister was unwell.
But for days they thought that a few painkillers and other junk, would suffice.
And having googled it, seems that the stuff that they given her might have caused her some complications.
The part that annoys me most is where if you need something urgent overthere, you have to get the prescription, go to the Pharmacy, buy the stuff and take it back to the Hospital for someone to charge you lots of money to administer....
I hope all goes well, and she will be alright.

Indeed, I hope that there is a good outcome. Certainly, apart from the very young and old, Dengue is treatable and survivable. I just hope that the delay and inappropriate treatment haven't tipped the balance the wrong way.
We have a 20-something friend who was treated for Dengue, here in Tagum, about a month ago. She was back at work within a week.

Too late
Yesterday afternoon, I received the dreaded text from Jet.
Her sister Bessie had passed away while in hospital.
I immediately left work at the town & Country Show in Coventry and made my way home, to try to be of some comfort.
I phoned my boss to tell him that I would be unable to go to the office today as I wanted to be with my wife.
The answer I got seemed very selfish indeed, but I can live with that.
I hope he can.
Thanks for all your prayers and words of support.
