My passport runs out next September and I'm looking to travel around Feb/Mar 2017. This will give me roughly the six months needed before it expires but I don't want to cut it this fine and would prefer to renew before I go.

Any idea's?

You can renew it before you go they will add the time previous to your final six months on your new licence, mine's Aug 08 to April 19 that's 10 years eight months in total, so you'll be ok to renew it early Jamie:xxgrinning--00xx3:

You can renew your passport up to 9 months before it expires, so you're cutting it fine on whether you can get the application in and your passport back before you travel.
Some airlines require a passport number when you book as well, so take that into consideration.

When we applied for my wife's passport last November it only took three weeks:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks guys.

9 months = January, which might only give me a month or so before I travel.

Can you renew it in person at one of the passport offices on the same day? I've done this before I think but this was years ago so rules might have changed.

I'm sure you can at Liverpool, the info is on the application form, you should be ok to post if you let the Post Office send it:xxgrinning--00xx3:

It's probably best to use my current passport then. It's actually expiry is on 10th September so does that mean if I leave the Phils before 10th March I'm good to go?

Hi Jamie, you'll be fine as the rules changed last November (2015)...

Passport validity
As of November 2015, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration has amended its rules about passport validity. British passports no longer need to have a minimum period of 6 months validity from the date of arrival. Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required.

You can go to the passport office and get an express appointment and new passport in 4 hours. It is a premium service, cost more and you have to book an appointment online, but it can be done. I did this in London a few months ago.

I'm bumping this thread as a reminder as I'm yet to renew but in no rush. Apparently you can apply online now. Does that mean you will have to upload a photo?

Yep done that recently. They tell you what sort of photo to upload and let you know if its ok once uploaded .

I wonder if they'll accept a photo of me half-naked on Potipot Island. :Erm:

Cheers big man.

I still haven't renewed but it's got to be done now. Apparently you can get a friend to take a pic of you with a phone and then upload it which does help matters. The pic has to meet the required standards though. Plain background and nothing else allowed in the photo apart from your upper torso.

All I need to do now to get the ball rolling is to set up a GoFundMe page to pay for my renewal. :REGamblMoney01HL1::icon_lol::wink:
