Schengen Visa

We are planing to travel to Ireland in May and France in August next year and my wife will still be on FLR when we travel. Can i get a visa that coves both of these excursions or do i have to get two different ones and end up visiting the Irish and French embassy?

As Ireland is not part of the schengen area then a seperate visa would be needed to travel there.
