Hello again wonderful forum! :)

Tomorrow we are going to apply for my wife's son 8yrs old to join us in the UK, I've tried and tried and tried to find somewhere that says children are exempt from the IELTS requirement but I can't see it anywhere on the forms or appendices, only this reference on page 5 of Immigration Directorate Instruction Family Migration: Appendix FM Section 1.21

"The English language requirement only applies to those applying as the main applicant under
the rules listed above. It does not apply to dependants of such applicants. "

Clearly he is our dependant but he is also the main applicant at this time? Or will they still consider my wife to be the main applicant even though she has already been in the UK since August 2015?

Any helps gratefully received.

Yes ... your wife should apply for your son's dependant visa on his behalf. And he, in turn, WILL be exempt from taking ANY of the English Language Tests on account of being under 18 years' old. Good Luck. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Okay thanks :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I had a minor thought when you said dependant visa that I'd given wifey the wrong forms to fill out - it still looks like a VAF4A and VAF4A appendix 2 :)
