Having worked on boats in the Caribbean as a teenager, Geoff Holt - a keen yachtsman - had always wanted to sail round the world.

Sadly, :bigcry: ... this  was thwarted, when a serious accident - in which he broke his neck diving into shallow water - leaving young Geoff paralysed from the waist down at the age of 18.

Undaunted, he spent the next three decades planning to fulfil his ambition one day. Indeed, in 2007, he sailed solo around the coast of :Britain: and, two years later, conquered the wild Atlantic on a twenty-metre yacht ... for which he was awarded an MBE and earned the 'Yachtsman of the Year' title.

Now 49, Geoff is set to tackle what he had long~promised himself all those years ago. Here, then, is a tale of sheer grit and determination ... an inspirational story!

:omg: ... having since learned of the tragic outcome of Henry Worsley's ill~fated expedition within such a short distance of fulfilling his quest:

:cwm25: ... I can only hope and  the disabled young man - the subject of this thread - has better luck in navigating his passage through vastly different, yet equally dangerous conditions ... cast adrift on some of the most hostile and treacherous waters in the world.

Very brave people to take on some of these challenges Arthur, I've been watching 'Walking the Himalayas' these last few weeks on Sunday evenings, can't remember what channel but very gripping stuff!:xxgrinning--00xx3:
