...or police officers/firefighters for that matter.

There are plenty of men looking for work who are SUITED to the physical demands of such occupations. :anerikke:

But of course we have the silly 'equality' laws to contend with. :NoNo:

I concur.

Talking of equality have you seen those driving schools sprouting up that only allow female learner drivers? :cwm25:

Sheer folly privatising such roles, should be state run and reserved for male ex forces...infantry, Paras, Gurkhas etc men who will give the grubs a serious clump and going over when they step out of line

Absolutely right.

Who on earth in their right mind would consider it acceptable to put a 54 year-old 5 foot tall female in physical authority over what are in many cases, young, fit, male hardened criminals ? All part of our ridiculous PC world, where common sense is thrown out of the window.

So now we have the male officers guarding the females, guarding the .... :NoNo:

I agree with Dedworth service should be state run and be a ready made job for ex services who wouldn't take any messing.
Little bit surprised the scumbag appeared charged with GBH. Surely this needs to be upgraded to murder :cwm23:

:iagree: ... murder, or - at the very least - Attempted Murder!

Attempted Murder!

.................... Which would, of course, :poke: - more appopriately - be referred to as 'Culpable Homicide'... the emphasis being placed on the word, "culpable" (which it was) :Erm: ... as used in Scots' Law.

When a 22 yo able bodied scumbag violently attacks a 54 yo grandmother, chances are she's going to be badly hurt if not dead.

:yeahthat:'s where - when the case eventually comes to trial - the assailant's defence counsel could claim that his/her client 'lashed out' at the guard ... without actually intending kill the victim who, sadly, later died from the injuries she sustained in the attack.

However, even if this were so, it does NOT, in ANY way, absolve the young toerag of his *culpability (or blame) for such an extremely cowardly assault in the first instance. :nono-1-1: ... hence my use of the *term, borrowed from Scots Law.

Hopefully, they'll "throw the book" at him. :cwm23:

They bang on about Health & Safety in this country but clearly this is one of those genuine examples of an employee being in an unsafe environment.

:gp: again, Jamie!

Evidently, successive governments can choose to apply Health and Safety Regulations when it suits them ... and/or conveniently IGNORE those same Rules altogether - with disastrous consequences - as in this tragic example. Therefore, IMO, governments themselves ought to bear some responsibility for such incidents.
