First, read from top to bottom and see whether this applies to YOU:-

An Atheist's View On Life

I will live my life according to these beliefs

God does not exist

It is just foolish to think

That there is a God with a cosmic plan

That an all-powerful God brings redemption and healing to the pain and suffering in this world

Is a comforting thought, however

It

Is only wishful thinking

People can do as they please ... without eternal consequences

The idea that

I am deserving of hell

Because of sin

Is a lie ... meant to make me a slave to those in power

"The more you have, the happier you will be"

Our existence has no grand meaning or purpose

In a world with NO God

There is freedom to be who I want to be

But with God

Everything is fine

It is ridiculous to think

I am lost and in need of saving

A Christian's View On Life

Now, :ReadIt: from bottom to top and make up your own minds.

Go on :poke: ... there's "NO catch"; nor is it my intention to debate the content ... :nono-1-1: ... I just felt this article was worth sharing and ... like the thread title implies ...

... food for thought! :icon_rolleyes:

That's really good.

Yes ... and the best thing is, it can be interpreted in whichever way the reader chooses according to his/her personal beliefs.

Thanks for sharing Arthur.

:xxgrinning--00xx3: ... pleasure's mine, Phil.

Thank YOU for the rep, my friend ... I see it's even gained me another bronze star in the process! :Jump:

Clever, but as an Atheist those views are not necessarily mine.

Well, chaps :icon_rolleyes: ... given neither of the two alternatives necessarily match the views of either of you, it'd be even more interesting to read your respective versions ... so do feel free to express them by all means.

Thank God I'm an Atheist.

:icon_rolleyes: ... something of a contradiction is it not, eh? :Erm:

Interesting stuff, Arthur.

Thanks, Jamie ... it IS ... most definitely! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

You've never heard that one before, Arth? It was an intentional contradiction, hence the wink.

I think God is to adults is what Santa Claus is to kids and I think if people looked at religion logically without bias, they'd see it in a different light. The trouble is that most can't because it's been drummed into them from an early age and they won't accept any other explanation. It's especially difficult in countries like the Philippines because the majority of people think the same way, so it's hard to believe in anything else.

I personally believe there is some other being, but not this wonderful God, and this being has been manipulated to control the population by putting 'the fear of God' into people so to speak.

I believe in prayer though but that's because my prayers have been answered numerous times so I'm more inclined to believe in a guardian angel than this God who is meant to be so powerful and great that he lets people suffer in poverty and the like.

So you class yourself as Agnostic as opposed to Atheist then Jamie :Erm:

Pure brainwashing, practically from birth. :NoNo:

Totally at odds with science and logic too. :ReadIt:

Add to that...a track record of prejudice, conflict, war, death and horror.

I believe in evolution, that answers it all to me. With reference to the Philippines, they believe in wizards, witches, ghosts, god and anything anyone tells them!:anerikke:
