The problem with modern Filipino society is this: We are too happy, too simpleminded, too content (with how things are, about the status quo), thus we have become shallow. This is clearly demonstrated by the sort of entertainment we make for ourselves—I mean the shows and films we make for the masses.

The author has a very valid point. Too much TV these days is revolved around celebrities rather than education and the same applies to the UK.

I've always said, they don't know anything about anything. Since Maritess has worked in England, it has been a big shock to her system and she's already looking forward to retiring. I never thought about retiring ever during my working life! :Erm:
