While we were over there, we transferred our British pounds for the peso. What a difference you got from different places too, a few peso difference by walking just around the corner. I think the best rate was 67.5 - the first time we exchanged - the worst was 65.7 on the last few days.

I have just sent some 50,000 through WorldRemit. The rate was 65.4 and their charge was £6.99. While we were there, I could only withdraw 10,000 peso at a time, and each time I was charged nearly £7 from my bank.

Looks like I shall be using WorldRemit a few more times in the near future.

Steve, did you have time to open a bank account while you were there ?

I'd also suggest you consider something like an iRemit Visa Card or PNB Global Filipino Card

Both are pre-paid peso card. You load up with Peso when the rate is good and then use as a regular ATM/debit card. No charges.

As a back up consider a pre-paid travel card such as Caxton fx.
You could have pounds/dollars/Euro or all 3
These are not in peso but the charges are very small and no ATM charges

Food for thought

Thanks Peter, we did not have time to open an account at all, but I shall look into the cards you mentioned for the next time. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
