“There’s no business like showbusiness,” so they say.
While the moviemaking industry is already spectacular, grand, and could basically be an institution on its own, we just cannot disregard the fact that it is also the actresses who never fail to define themselves apart from the roles they play on the big and small screens. These actresses practically can make or break a brand, a stylist, a designer, a label, and practically anything a highly popular and influential star can dig their hands on or wear on their sleeves. This is practically the main reason why they make such impressive and effective brand ambassadors and endorsers.

Hollywood actresses establish the hottest and latest trends in fashion and style. We see them all dressed to the tenths in their designer gowns and all dolled up through months of hair, makeup, and body preparations just to look close to perfect as they parade and strike their rehearsed poses on the red carpet.

Now, it’s not just the Hollywood actresses we should cast the spotlight on because other actresses from all over the globe also set styles for themselves. European actresses exude glamour and elegance with their haut couture. Bollywood and Asian actresses try to stick to their roots, embracing their traditions while seamlessly merging them with the Western style.

Meanwhile, the Filipinas in showbiz (http://filipinaroses.com/advice-for-a-filipina-dating-a-westerner/) are not behind the actress bandwagon. In fact, they might even be above it. This is because in the Philippines, we have excellence in our showbiz industry.

The Philippine showbiz industry is colourful, magical, and quirky because of our fascination over titles and labels. Pinoy showbiz is filled with stars local to almost every Pinoy. We have stars such as the Superstar (Nora Aunor), a Mega Star (Sharon Cuneta), a Star for all Seasons (Vilma Santos), a Diamond Star (Maricel Soriano), and an Ultimate Multimedia Star (Toni Gonzaga).

If you are not the type who enjoys stargazing, then perhaps you like royalties, such as queens, princesses and probably, some sweethearts, too? If you think Pinoy showbiz is shy in displaying its royalties, think again because we have the Queen of Pinoy Soap Operas (Judy Ann Santos), Queen of all Media (Kris Aquino), Comedy Queen (Ai Ai De Las Alas), Concert Queen (Pops Fernandez), Dance Princess (Maja Salvador), RNB Princess (Kyla), Optimum Teleserye Princess (Claudine Barretto), Popstar Princess (Sarah Geronimo), and the Queen of Soul (Jaya).

Even birds and divas sing their way into our hearts: Asia’s Songbird (Regine Velasquez), Divine Diva (Zsa Zsa Padilla), Asia’s Nightingale (Lani Misalucha), and the Phenomenal Diva (Jessa Zaragoza).

As if one title could never be enough, some fans have coined a title just could not decide which should be one’s title, hence some stars hold multiple labels under their belts: we have an Asia’s Pop Sweetheart/ Ultimate Musical Princess/ Multimedia Princess all rolled into one in the person of Julie Anne San Jose, a Primetime Princess and Reigning Teen Queen in Kathryn Bernardo, and a National Sweetheart and the Princess of all Media: Anne Curtis.

These labels and titles are just part of the rich and fun culture that only we Filipinos have. We might not have known the real history behind our fascination of labels and titles blessed unto the celebrities who have charmed our hearts, but we sure enjoy inventing these odd and rare labels and turn them into household names.
