Seems his mother married a Brit years ago and Fred was in the UK since he was 4 years old...The Brit wanted to adopt him but couldn't get permission from the natural Father..
To me,its absolutely unbelievable that the idiots in the Home office could allow this lad to be sent back to a place he doesn't even know.
Shameful!!!!:cwm23:

It's a shame when one considers that thousands of illegals are resident here and nobody's bothered!

Good guy`s out bad guys in!!

Exactly Michael. Eritreans that sneaked into UK last week are going to cost the British taxpayer. But hey ho, our government prefers to home-in on the easy targets rather than spend money beefing up the borders to stop the illegals.

He and his family had plenty of years to regularise his immigration status.

It's got nothing to do with whether the rules suck or not.

So why oh why didn't he sort out his immigration status ?

He actually did better than most to last for 12 years on student visas

He didn't go to the UK until he was 18/19. He has lived in the UK for 12 years on student visas when he can sort out ILR after 10 years. :NoNo:

Very few facts to establish why he was not given Brit Cit given his mother is a British national and he was a hard working tax payer for 13 years that obviously integrated very well in Maidstone..
Sounds like an easy, soft target for the UKBA that need to hit their deportation targets to me.
Why don't they say,"Rules are rules" and then immediately start deporting the "legal" and illegal immigrant criminals choking UK prisons? I suppose it is better to rehabilitate them and reintroduce them back into British society then to choose scumbags like Filipino Fred..

No idea why Fred had no right of appeal either..

I`ll ask him when I see him!

(I`ll give him a job as a barman if he`s interested)

I dont know Graham!!
I reckon I should give these kind of topics a wide birth as they make my blood boil!
The UK slippery slope is too well lubricated now and on a 45 degree angle.
The lunatics rule the asylum.

I do feel sorry for him but as far as I can see it is their own fault. They had 12 years to sort out his immigration status

3.500 British signatures signed a petition.. Did they listen? Did they ....!!

Lots of bars in the Philippines, I'm sure he can manage to pursue being a barman. Lots of Filipinos can manage. If he doesn't like what he can earn in the Philippines, do what lots do, work overseas. He's old enough to know how to live. It's their own fault why they didn't sort out his visa.

he was a hard working tax payer for 13 years

he was on a student visa, and for the last few years and he would have only been able to work for up to 20hrs a week,

now if he was not Filipino, I'm sure most people on here would be saying he was playing the system, and he should be deported.

there rules apply to everyone and that includes Filipinos.

i would have thought she became a British citizen after living in the UK for at least 3yrs, he probably couldn't be registered as British because because he would have been over 18, and he would have had to come to the UK on his own merits, ie student visa which is not a settlement visa.

he or his parents must be rich to be able to afford to pay international student fees for over 12yrs :doh
