Friends have been asking if I am definitely returning to the Philippines, with kind offers of hospitality  !

My plan is to fly from Heathrow by Cathay Pacific on Tuesday ( 14 Jan ). A few nights in Manila, a week in Baguio then a week in Boracay ( never been to either before ). Finally another few nights in Manila before flying back on 4 February.

Best wishes and good health to all members, wherever you may be in the next few weeks :xxgrinning--00xx3: !

Haven't been to either Boracay or Baguio, Alan :nono-1-1: ... but we're hoping to rectify that during our next visit to the Phils - within the coming year - if all goes according to plan.

Myrna, of course, often attended Summer Camps for Teachers held annually at the latter location.

Both of us wish you a wonderful holiday. Enjoy it to the full. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks Ded :xxgrinning--00xx3: I remembered you suggested this Bar to me, and I understand the varying opinions about Boracay ! Have to say I'm looking forward to the contrasts of Manila, northern Luzon, and Boracay as I'm meeting good friends in all three  For sure there ought to be great photo opportunities .

I would get no sympathy here in Scarborough if I complained about the cold weather, and actually here on the east coast of England we have so far had a mild winter, with no flooding

I would first like to reiterate what I'd already said on your *Boracay thread, Alan ... i.e., it's really good to see you back; I'm so pleased you'd such a marvellous time.

Also, wanted to mention the treat it has been to revel in your beautiful pictorial reminders *there - as well as those in each of your excellent 'Cordillera 1, 2 & 3', threads - of a truly memorable vacation. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thank you Arthur, and everyone else who has welcomed me back :xxgrinning--00xx3:

The photos are only a small sample of the hundreds taken - that way hopefully I keep the good will of members without annoying those who haven't been as lucky as me in escaping part of the UK winter :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Of course travelling is never completely smooth. There were no problems with the Cathay Pacific flights, but I discovered the London underground was on strike when I got back to Heathrow, and had to take a taxi to Kings Cross station. That journey was an interesting sightseeing tour ! However, it took almost 3 hours, and I only just caught the trains to York ( then Scarborough ) for which I had advance tickets. Luckily it was a fixed price ( £ 56 ), about the same as the return train fares .
