I've just booked 4 nights Hong Kong for December, I will be travelling from Manila with my girlfriend who is Filipino.
They have always been given 14 days visa free in HK, but i read today that the HK government voted earlier this month to scrap it over that hostage fiasco 3 years ago.
Does anybody know if thats happened already?

Where did you read that Dave?

Nothing passed legally so-far. It's all part of diplomatic pressures.

To be on the safe side though, I would strongly suggest you make regular (even daily) visits to this webpage - Hongkong Immigration Department (http://www.immd.gov.hk/en/services/hk-visas/visit-transit/visit-visa-entry-permit.html#part2)
If you scroll down on that page you'll see it's still showing Philippines at 14 days visa-free

I'd also suggest keeping tabs on this webpage also - Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong (http://www.philcongen-hk.com/)
You can also send e-mail to them at hongkongpc@philcongen-hk.com

I think she'll be fine in December unless anything seriously dramatic happens any time soon.

Personally I doubt such sanctions will happen as things stand now.

Keep checking those links though

Can you post the link where it mentions it will start in April ?

Apart from the HK media statements the latest official information I am aware of is this advisory:-

My daughter travels in and out of HK on a regular basis, would be helpful to understand all the sources. Thanks in advance for any info

Sorry Terpe, its not definitely starting in april. Just that they voted for it to begin in april and that is for OFW domestic workers only trying to renew their contracts.

As of the visa free 14 days, I can't find when they voted for that to begin

It's always been 14 days visa free on Philippine passport. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
No change.

Keep you eye to those links I provided though.
