Hi, I'm new here.

Could do with up to date advice on agents who will send a 20ft container to Philippines, either Subic, Batangas or Manila.

Does anyone know a good customs agent there? Final destination Romblon, so will take ferry or truck from one location to final destination. I read previous posts. Any
suggestions??

Thanks,
Timi

Hi Timi,

As you are aware there are many organisations that undertake international ships via container.
You really need to do some research, take time and select those that best meet your own personal circumstances and needs.

I can tell you that for a 20ft container you can expect to pay between £2000 - £6000 depending on what you really want(need).
That will mostly exclude any insurance and will not include packing and loading etc.
Make no mistake that packing your stuff and loading a full container will be incredible hard work.
A standard so-called 20ft container will have a volume of approx 38 cubic metres
A Hi-Cube 20ft container has approx 43 cubic metres
A 'half-height' 20ft container has approx 19 cubic metres

Remember also, that unless you qualify for exemption, you be facing significant tax and duties at arrival.

At this stage I don't think it helpful to provide recommendations as the scope of supply and service is just too broad.

The best I can do is to help your own research by providing the following links to some organisations that are looking for your business.
Just be sure you have a good idea on the volume of stuff you want to ship, the cost per cubic metre and the cost benefit of shipping (does the total shipping cost outweigh the cost of buying new)
Obviously for some items the value is solely personal.

There's a lot of detail to consider and understand.

Hi all, have been pursuing this. Seems so many problems with Manila customs, that balikbayan boxes may be the way to go.

Thanks for all the great advice.

May I suggest you follow a review of the major BB shippers (such as LBC and Forex) in connection with custom boxes.
I recently shipped my own 'oversized' custom build boxes without any issues.
As always just comes down to budgets. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Mine all arrived safely.

Yes Timi.. Take Terpe's advice..Look at Balikbayan boxes and custom BB services..Door to door and no extra taxes..Mark everything as Houshold items.
If it was me I would sell the boat and have one built here..Very cheap to build even good quality boats as labour costs are far cheaper.. I know a Brit locally that had a Catamaran built here..He`s more than happy.
The out board and tools can go in a custom box and sent pretty damned cheap..Just don't declare exactly whats inside, otherwise it could well end up on the customs officers fishing boat!!:icon_lol:
Dont forget..These BB boxes have no weight limit..You pay for box size.

I honestly don't know Brian.
Most folks are not buying containers to actually ship stuff around, usually they buy for site storage or for use as alternative for portacabin
It's easy enough to buy a container though. Plenty of sources such as specialist company or even eBay

Shipping costs are based on volume.

Yeah well, I always thought that they include the cost of the containers as some containers get shipped and never return because it costs money so I thought if I owned the container that factor will not be added to the cost.
