This is a palay (rice husk) combustion chamber that produces clean cooking gas. Bloody amazing IMO!!http://www.bioenergylists.org/files/images/A%20LOW%20COST%20RICE%20HUSK%20GAS%20STOVE%20word97_img_0.jpgAt 1000 PHP for 11 KG`s of LPG these days...I want one..But bigger!

Bigger, like this one..http://stoves.bioenergylists.org/files/images/Continuous-Flow%20Rice%20Husk%20Gasifier%20for%20Small-Scale%20Thermal%20Applications_img_0.jpgdirect the gas to a petrol generator and produce free electricity just from burning Palay..Pretty damned cool.

Read about these a few years ago and the guy who invented it getting some sort of award. He still had some tweaking to do as they needed either a fan or batteries to run the thing.

Are they readily available now?

Palay will go from free to 5php a kilo

He may have taken an existing design and somehow adapted it for palay(there is a PC fan at low level) but if you do a search on the net it looks like they have been around forever in one form or another..http://www.google.com.ph/search?q=gasifier%20stove&bav=on.2,or.&bvm=bv.50165853,d.bmk,pv.xjs.s.en_US.seW1cfrvSKg.O&biw=1366&bih=643&safe=active&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=wQv-UaCqLMnTrQeLtoCIAQDown here they charge 5 pesos for a rice sack full..Lots of bloody foreigners using it in their gardens and now no longer free.. Grrrr!!

Aye all these new foreigners are cranking up the prices for us indigenous folks. Not always a bad thing if you already own some land!

Looks fairly simple to fabricate your own version.

This is probably the article i read 4 years ago.

Bought Solane (Shellane) yesterday and it was 825 for 11kg. The dodgy looking yellow bottles are around 700.

Blimey, looks like I'll be collecting firewood when I've got the retirement Nipa hut up and running then. :cwm3:
