A pair of on-trend sunglasses can brighten up your day even if the sun refuses to make an appearance.....

1. Warehouse

See-through style has stormed the fashion scene this season with transparent detailing on clothing and accessories. These milky blue shades are an easy way to wear the trend. The rounded-off square frames make them an ideal fit for most face shapes.

£16, warehouse.co.uk

2. Dolce & Gabbana

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632788.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies2.jpg

The inspiration for Dolce & Gabbana’s collection this season was summers spent at the seaside in Sicily, for which a great pair of sunglasses would surely be a necessity. These colourful numbers in an oversized style, are just the thing to add a dose of holiday spirit to any look.

3. ASOS

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632789.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies3.jpg

Once upon a time sunglasses only came in neutral shades; now there’s a rainbow of shades, patterns and effects from which to choose. Those with girlier inclinations will love this style in baby pink, while the cat-eye shape brings an added element of glamour.

£12, asos.com

4. DSquared2

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632790.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies4.jpg

Embellished sunglasses are having a moment. The hazel shade and classic shape of this style may be understated but the cluster of gems more than makes up for that. Ideal for wearing on dressier occasions, but maybe not so appropriate for use on the beach.

£243, marcolin.com

5. The Row

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632791.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies5.jpg

Just as every wardrobe needs a little black dress it also needs a pair of classic, black sunglasses. This style is from The Row, the label formed by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen – rarely seen without their trusty shades. In its oversized style this particular pair has a retro 1950s look about it: think Jackie Onassis.

£269, my-wardrobe.com

6. Urban Outfitters

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632792.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies6.jpg

A classic Clubmaster shape is given a modern twist. The metal accent gives a hardware element to these frames making them ideal for toughening up an outfit. The rose gold and black prevent this pair becoming too flashy.

£15, urbanoutfitters.co.uk

7. Zara

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632793.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies7.jpg

Black and white has been a runaway trend for spring/summer 2013. These shades are a sweet way to get the look; and this colour combination will outlast seasonal trends – an enduring classic for years to come.

£19.99, zara.com

8. Fendi

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632794.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies8.jpg

Colour-blocking isn’t just for clothes; it can work with eyewear, too, with the pretty peach and purple of these frames. Because the purple shade is on the inside of the frame you’ll only get a hint of colour, ensuring the look isn’t overpowering.

£175, Fendi, Marchon, 0800 72 20 20

9. & Other Stories

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632795.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies9.jpg

Go for a quirky look with these round-framed sunglasses from & Other Stories, a relative newcomer to these shores. Electric blue makes this style more modern than retro, while the purse-friendly price-tag will be pleasing to anyone prone to sitting on, or losing, their sunnies.

£12, stories.com

10. Miu Miu

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8632796.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/sunnies10.jpg

Transport yourself to Fifties America with this vintage-inspired style from Miu Miu. The combination of the sharp corner flicks with the pink and metallic frames give these shades a real sense of fun. Plus the rimless detail at the bottom adds an extra design element that makes them just that little bit more special.

£225, Sunglass Hut, 0844 264 0860

I'm not a sunglasses person myself, but my wife wears them almost at the 'drop-of-a-hat'.
Her favourite is the Chanel ones that I bought for her on our first trip to Paris. (nice romantic week end too)

Didn't think the above list really hit the spot. :NoNo:

Let's hope this summer will be the one where I'm forced to wear mine. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Mine are Ray Ban too. Always had Ray Ban.

This topic made me chuckle.

My Filipina New York fashionista stepdaughter appears to have at least 20 pairs of such posh sunglasses in amongst her stuff left with me in my spare room...apart from the ones she took with her. :cwm24:

Anyway, it's her birthday tomorrow...24 ! :birthday:

.

Pictured a couple of weeks ago, with friend...and sunglasses, of course:
