you all know one day i will be there , and you all know the way i think about what to live in also, so i have been thinking today about another way to live out there cheap for the first few months while you think is this for you sort of thing, CAMPING, not your little tent but the big ones you get with sleeping pods and all that stuff, you see then advertised on tv and in your camping shops, all look great outdoor living and including the kitchen sink, with the deals you can get i am sure its worth a go, you have a secure lot and pitch the tent you have running water and electric too, may take some getting us to but its like anything you have to give it a chance, i am not saying its for ever but its a start, and you can always have your container to store all your things in and if the weather turns out bad you can pop into it too, just another mad thought from me but its a thought, Fred you did mention lots for lease too

When we first moved to Bohol we lived in my Bro in laws Kubu (small nipa hut) whilst we were building the Big nipa hut.. I reckon you could build one for bout 700 Quid or even less..
A tent would be OK for about a week and then the novelty would start wearing off!

I don't think you'd want to be camping during the rainy season in Philippines! I've been camping twice when a big rain-storm hit and it wasn't fun, especially where it had leaked and made things wet inside!

true, living in tents is good only for a few days. But months and month? You can try renting a small house, its not that expensive i guess. It depends on the location and the house structure. Like in my province, a small house can cost about 300/month or more. Its a simple house and more comfortable than living in a tent. Try to ask your other half to do some inquiry.

One labourer and a carpenter for two weeks? About 6,000 Peso`s..
Forget self build.. Just sit back with a nice cup of coffee and politely supervise from a distance!
Might need a tent for two weeks during construction though.:icon_lol:

Bahay kubo, kahit munti....

Depends where your tent would be located. The camping sites are nothing like what you would find in Europe. Might be okay if you were living on relatives land and you could use their facilities.
After a week of the heat or rain you would be rethinking your options.
Nipa hut would be a good idea.
