If you're dependent on maps via your iPhone, I suggest not to upgrade your current iOS 5 to the new iOS 6. Apple removed the Google Maps on iOS 6 and replaced it with the new Apple Maps. Go to this site http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/ and see how the maps look.

Upgraded yesterday, maps for our area seem more detailed but no longer providing directions. Strangely the maps say they are in association with TomTom.

A few good features in iOS 6 but also a few bugs to iron out still.

Lol, funny site :P I have yet to upgrade mine though.

But if you want to have Google Maps back, the closest thing (at least until Google releases their own app) is to browse it through Safari. CNET article here: http://cnet.co/P496Fi

Apple has responded to fierce criticism of its mapping software, saying the application will "improve".

The mapping software angered users who said it was riddled with inaccuracies, misplaced towns and cities and omitted key landmarks.

I think one way of getting it to work OK is to stand on one leg and hold the iPhone above head height
