whats been the best so far for you, there is so many to chose from i think, loved the cycling, all of it, but watching Nicola Adams win her bouts and then the final what a girl what a smile, then another factor is the crowds, the noise from them was truely amazing, watching the 5000 mtrs the roar of the crowd was just brilliant,

I wonder who'll get Sports Personality of the Year?

They said Bradley Wiggins was nailed on but that was before Jessica Ennis & Mo Farah triumphed emphatically. Then there's Andy Murray. Oh wait, he doesn't have a personality! :icon_lol:

Yes. But will it be Sir Bradley Wiggins? Wonder who will follow Sir Chris Hoy?

London 2012: How the world saw the Olympic Games

"Anthony Faiola, Washington Post: "Urged on by massive home crowds and a cheerleading press that defied predictions of Olympic cynicism, British athletes ran, cycled and rowed their way to their highest medal count since Britannia ruled the seas in 1908. At these Games, the United States and China might be coming home with more gold, but this country of 62 million roughly the size of Michigan reminded itself of its uncanny ability to punch above its weight.""

Her smile is truly amazing :) I would totally give her the gold medal for her smile alone. She's really a "Babyface"

Olympic legacy: White elephant or economic viagra?

"Measuring the sporting success of London 2012 is easy - a quick glance at the medals table tells us unequivocally that this has been the most successful Olympic games for Britain in more than a century.

But measuring its success outside the sporting arena is a little more tricky.

Not only, of course, is it too early to draw any meaningful conclusions, but there are no easy yardsticks to judge against.

Yet one thing is clear - the government expects a return on its £9bn-plus investment, both from a short-term cash injection during the Games and from an economic legacy that will, it hopes, be felt for many years to come.

'Scared off'
Just how significant a boost the Games gives to the UK's flatlining economy remains to be seen.

Initially at least, organisers' efforts to prevent bedlam in the centre of London seem to have been over-zealous, with a number of smaller retailers bemoaning a lack of shoppers.

Small shops have complained of shoppers staying away, although department stores have fared better
"We have experienced a big dip in trade since the games began," says William Jones, who runs the T-Shirt Store in Covent Garden.

"It is really quiet - the media and Transport for London have scared everyone away. Usually at this time of year we get lots of tourists, but our turnover is down 30%."

Footfall figures paint a similar, if less dramatic, picture. According to Experian, only three days during the first 13 of the Games saw higher numbers of shoppers in the West End and the East End of London than the previous year."

So many to choose from. Like you mention, the Cycling and the endless world records was certainly high on my list. Mo Farah's destruction in both 5k and 10k. Usain Bolt proving he is untouchable. Spirited displays from our teams in sports we have no right to be competing in at the highest level, notably the Women's Volleyball teams victory over African champions Algeria, and the way they went about it over the full 5 sets. Seeing women compete from ALL nations, even if they weren't up to scratch.

But for me, the one moment that made the Olympics showed the world just how much sport means in this country. In the beautiful setting of Horse Guards Parade, a modern, noisy game, played in a posh, upper class part of the city, one moment sent goosebumps all over me.

Great Britain v someone in the Women's beach volleyball, either a time out or a technically time out, music blaring from the PA system, but you couldn't hear that....... We were losing, badly, but the entire 15,000 or 18,000 capacity crowd started singing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" You never see the competitors pay attention to the crowd, but they couldn't help but look around and take it in. How awe inspiring that must have been. We lost though haha

I think the women's boxing did it for me.

Previously I wouldn't have given the idea the time of day, but I really enjoyed it, and I have decided to adopt Nicola Adams. :)

It was a great spectacle - hope it gives the children a boost and some positive pics of winning. I hear winning is not seen as a good thing in some schools.

I loved the Beijing Olympics but London rocked for me.

If you want to see some real amazement watch the para-Olympics that will be inspiring.

With the exception of the Closing Ceremony, the whole Olympics was absolutely brilliant! I've enjoyed watching so many different sports and atheletes from all over the world.

Team GB have exceeded all expectiations and it seems like (almost) the whole country has got behind the Olympics.
